About Amber Fold

Amber Fold was established in 2018 with a heartfelt mission: to create a residential environment where seniors could continue living with independence, dignity, and purpose. Our founders, who had personally experienced the challenges of finding appropriate living arrangements for elderly family members, recognized the need for a different approach to senior housing in Chiang Mai.

The name "Amber Fold" reflects our philosophy. Amber represents warmth, preservation of precious memories, and the golden years of life. "Fold" speaks to safety, shelter, and the gathering of a caring community. Together, these words embody what we strive to provide: a warm, protective environment where each person's life story is valued and their future is supported.

Located in the peaceful San Kamphaeng district of Chiang Mai, our residence sits amid gardens and natural surroundings that promote calm and well-being. We chose this location intentionally, seeking a setting that offers tranquility while remaining accessible to the cultural richness and healthcare facilities of Chiang Mai city.

Our approach is grounded in respect for individual preferences and the recognition that each person has different needs for support and community. We offer three residence options not to categorize people, but to honor the reality that some individuals prefer more solitude while others thrive on social connection, and that these preferences may change over time.

What distinguishes Amber Fold is our commitment to treating residents as whole people with continuing interests, relationships, and contributions to make. We believe that aging does not diminish a person's value or their need for purpose and engagement. Our staff members are trained to support residents' autonomy and facilitate their chosen activities rather than directing their daily lives.

Over the years since our founding, we have welcomed residents from diverse backgrounds, including Thai nationals and expatriates who have made Thailand their home. This cultural diversity enriches our community and reflects the international character of Chiang Mai itself. Conversations in our common areas might shift between Thai, English, and other languages, creating a welcoming atmosphere for people from many places.
